Immersion observation basics

Our immersion tray is for supervised observation during equipment walkthroughs — students do not drain or refill fluid in beginner cohorts.

Why we keep a single demo tray

Immersion reduces fan noise and can stabilize temperatures, but fluid handling is easy to get wrong. The school maintains one sealed demo so beginners can see bubble patterns and pump routing without managing liters of dielectric fluid themselves.

What to watch for

Look at cable strain relief above the fluid line, dryness on connectors, and whether the dry cooler’s fans respond when load increases. Instructors point out cloudy fluid as a maintenance signal; crystal-clear fluid is the baseline we keep between open lab evenings.

Safety habits

Gloves stay on near open lids. No food on the immersion bench. Phones stay in pockets — a dropped device is an expensive story we prefer not to add to. These rules feel strict on tour day; alumni later thank us when they build home setups.

When immersion is the wrong first step

If you have never powered an air-cooled ASIC successfully, skip immersion purchases. Complete the beginner bootcamp, run a dry miner for a month, then book a single-model walkthrough focused on trays. Sequence matters more than novelty.
