Power planning for Bangkok flats
Before you reserve a beginner mining bootcamp seat, photograph your breaker panel. We use those photos during the power worksheet on day one.
Know the continuous load
A mid-generation ASIC plus PSU can draw well over a household kettle. Thai apartment circuits often share lighting and outlets. We teach students to treat mining as a dedicated load and to avoid piggybacking on kitchen rings.
Extension cords are not infrastructure
During equipment walkthroughs we show melted insulation from undersized cords. If your planned run exceeds a short, heavy-gauge cable to a proper outlet, pause the purchase and talk with a licensed electrician — we can recommend questions to ask, but we do not perform building work.
Noise and neighbors
Air-cooled miners are loud. Bangkok condominiums with thin walls may forbid continuous equipment noise. Immersion reduces acoustic load but adds fluid handling. We discuss both options honestly so students do not discover a house-rules conflict after unboxing.
Landlord conversations
Bring estimated wattage, runtime hours, and a plan for heat exhaust. Several of our alumni received written permission after sharing the checklist from class. Others chose colocation once they saw the numbers — both outcomes count as successful planning.
